Happy Birthday two one of the greatest artistic minds of ALL time. Stevie celebrates his 59th birthday twoday, Wednesday, March 13th... so it was only right that I feature Stevland Hardaway Judkins b.k.a. Stevie Wonder on this glorious Wed-nez-day edition of TIBT. Stevie's genius as a songwriting, singing, producing, and performing phenom started at the tender age of 11 when he signed with Motown. Born sightless, Stevie plays the harmonica, piano, synthesizer, drums, congo, bass guitar, bongo, organ, melodica, and clavinet... His music paints vivid pictures of reality with broad strokes of imagination and colorful melodies. His music is funky and frantic. Soothing and exhilarating. Playful and political. Jazzy and just incredible. I saw him perform a couple of years ago and he sounds just like his recordings... it's remarkable. Now only if I coulda seen this guy do it live while he had it goin...
