Tell the members on YFF365 a little about your background
I grew up in Inglewoooood but somehow made it out the hood. Went to Stanford, now getting my Master's at Harvard, currently working for the U.S. Embassy in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia. I will be a diplomat after I graduate, as I've already signed my life away to the State Department. I am committed to social progress, the assurance of human rights for all people (especially ethnic minorities, since they seem to be the ones most frequently screwed by governments), democratic principles, peace and love for all. awwww :)
When I'm not trying to save the world, I try to enjoy the lighter side of life by shopping, tanning, partying, dancing, making up my own raps (I have a life-long goal of joining Dip-Set), traveling (I probably have more stamps-and visas- than any other 23 year old you know), cooking and baking (mmm I make a mean chocolate frosting!).
Which fits your persona?
Young, Fly, Forward Thinker, Fashionable, Education, For-Social Welfare
If people were to talk about you, what's the #1 thing a majority of them would say?
She's goofy and kinda like Elle Woods from "Legally Blonde"- we know she's smart, but she also likes to party.

A White Man's View on White Privilege: Must Read!

Tim Wise is the Director of the newly-formed Association for White Anti-Racist Education (AWARE) in Nashville, Tennessee. He lectures across the country about the need to combat institutional racism, gender bias, and the growing gap between rich and poor in the U.S. He is white but his understanding of racism in America is astounding. He spoke at Stanford in 2006, I think, and he was amazing! His blog is so on point, it makes me want to scream, "PREACH white man! PREACH!" (jk...not really tho lo… Continue

It was not that long ago that black people in the Deep South could be beaten or killed for seeking the right to vote, talking back to the wrong white man or failing to give way on the sidewalk. People of color who violated these and other proscriptions could be designated “uppity niggers” and subjected to acts o… Continue

ICC Indites Sudan President: Bold Move, but Bad Idea?

"The decision by the chief prosecutor of the International Criminal Court to seek the arrest of President Omar al-Bashir of Sudan is a bold human rights intervention, but one that will cause problems on the diplomatic front.

It is bound to complicate, some will say destr… Continue

A Famine Called by Any Other Name is Still a Famine

During my internship here at the U.S. Embassy in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia my portfolio includes the drought, and the effects of it. I'm surprised that many people in the U.S. don't know how serious it is, but here's an article that may shed some light.
